Blake Shelton is releasing his eighth studio album on March 26, 2013. Based on a True Story was produced by Scott Hendricks and released via Warner Bros. Records. The first song released from the album was ‘Sure Be Cool If You Did’. It was released on January 8, 2013 and has already peaked at #1 on the US country airplay and US Country Songs charts. This song made the eighth consecutive song to reach #1 and the thirteenth song to reach #1 during his career.
Blake is married to fellow country star Miranda Lambert. The wedding took place on May 14, 2011 and had many celebrities in attendance including Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, Dierks Bentley, and the Bellamy Brothers. Together the couple wrote about the death of Blake’s brother Richie, who died in 1990. ‘Over You’ went on to be named CMA Song of the Year for 2012.
Shelton has been nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, and Song of the Year – ‘Over You’ at the 2013 Academy of country Music. He has also been nominated for Favorite Male Singer at the 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards.
