Acoustic Guitar
The Acoustic Guitar (əkústɪkgətɑ́r) is a stringed musical instrument with a hollow body shaped similar to a figure eight. Traditionally a wooden instrument, there are now many different styles of acoustic guitar to represent the different genres of music. The sides and back of the acoustic guitar are normally made from a hardwood such as mahogany while the top of the guitar is usually made of a lighter wood such as cedar or ash.
Acoustic guitars come in both 6, 7 and 12 string format. Their sound is projected through a sound hole that is cut in a circular shape into the top of the guitar. Although a majority of acoustic players use the instrument to produce rhythms and chords, it can also be used as an effective lead instrument.
